Nock is a virtual reality game combining archery and soccer, and it was as much fun to work on as it is to play. The team at Normal have great ears for audio, and a particularly cool aesthetic for a lot of the sound palette. The focus for me on the project was tackling the more dynamic audio elements like building a reactive crowd system, physics-driven bow flexing sounds, buttery smooth movement sounds, and really punchy effects. At some point I’ll have to do a deep dive on some of the tricks and details in this one. The best feedback I got from the developers along the way was along the lines of “every time you add something, if we ever hear an old version of the game without that stuff it sounds totally broken and missing.”
